Happy 21st to MHFA!

Happy 21st to MHFA!

Mental Health First Aid is a relatively new concept, but maybe not quite as new as you think! This year marks the 21st year of Mental Health First Aid Australia’s courses. Since is its inception in 2000, Mental Health First Aid has reached over 4 million people across over 25 countries. Around 900 000 Australians have completed one of these courses and awareness is rapidly growing!

Over the years the course has been refined and is now one of the most well recognised courses of its kind in the world (with the awards to prove it!). It was originally developed by Betty Kitchener and, her husband, Professor Tony Jorm. Betty even received an Order of Australia Member AM for her work.

The community continues to grow and shows no sign of stopping. I am so passionate about this course. It has already had such a huge positive impact but I believe we have only scraped the surface of its potential! Thank you so much to Betty and Tony for all the work you have done and continue to do in the mental health space!
